In memory of Joel Boersma, a devoted coach, teacher, and resident of Orange City, Iowa, whose life was tragically cut short in a car accident. He was 47 years old. Joel was known for his unwavering passion for education and athletics, serving as a guiding light for countless students and athletes within the MOC-Floyd Valley Community School District.
Throughout his career, Joel inspired young people to believe in themselves, both on and off the field. His approach to coaching went beyond wins and losses—he focused on character, perseverance, and teamwork. Those who learned under him often described him as patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in their growth as individuals.
Outside the classroom and gym, Joel was a family man who loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature brought him peace and balance. His laughter and positive energy filled every room, creating a sense of warmth that drew people in.
