In memory of Joanne P. Bartlett, a devoted educator, administrator, and leader from Maryland whose life and work left a lasting mark on the St. Paul’s community. Joanne dedicated more than three decades to nurturing students and strengthening educational programs, beginning her career at St. Paul’s School for Girls in 1988 as a college counselor, senior class dean, and assistant field hockey coach. Her commitment to student development and well-being was evident in every role she held, including her tenure as an admissions officer through 1997.
Joanne’s influence extended far beyond the classroom. In 2013, she joined the St. Paul’s School Board of Trustees, serving as board president in 2016 and later becoming the inaugural chief executive officer of the unified St. Paul’s Schools Board of Trustees. She played a pivotal role in guiding the schools’ unification and enhancing their shared mission, while also contributing to major projects such as the SPSG building initiative. Her leadership earned her the Robert Pollock Trustee Service Award in 2019 and the Green Apple Award in 2024.
Throughout her life, Joanne exemplified dedication, collaboration, and compassion. She was passionate about fostering leadership, creativity, and athletic excellence in students, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire the community. Her family has established the Joanne P. Bartlett Endowed Scholarship Fund to honor her memory and support future generations.
